What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
1. Who we are
LicenseBox operates this website and the license management service described in our Terms of Use. We are the data controller for the personal data described below and can be reached at support@licensebox.net.
2. Data we collect
Account data: first and last name, email address, password (stored only as a cryptographic hash), and your two-factor and notification preferences.
Billing data: billing type (individual or corporate), address, tax office and tax number or identity number, company name and phone number. These are required to issue a valid invoice and are copied onto the invoice at the moment it is issued.
License and technical data: the IP addresses you register against a license, the history of changes to those addresses, verification requests received from your servers (including the requesting IP address and timestamp), and installation activity.
Support data: the contents of support tickets and contact form messages you send us.
Payment data: card details are entered directly with our payment provider and never reach our servers. We store only the transaction reference and status.
3. Why we use it
To create and operate your account, deliver and verify licenses, issue invoices and collect payment, provide support, send service notices and announcements, detect abuse, and comply with our legal and accounting obligations.
IP addresses are central to how licensing works here: a license is bound to the addresses you register, so we must process them to determine whether a verification request is valid.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data to perform our contract with you, to comply with legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in securing the Service and preventing abuse.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with providers who help us run the Service — payment processing, email delivery, and server hosting — and only to the extent needed to perform their function, and with authorities where the law requires it.
6. Retention
Account and license data are kept while your account is active. Invoices and related records are kept for the period required by applicable accounting and tax law even after an account is closed. Verification logs are kept only as long as needed for operational and abuse-prevention purposes.
7. Security
Traffic is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, API keys are stored so that they cannot be read back, and installation commands are cryptographically signed.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and — as stated in our Terms of Use — we accept no liability for any loss arising from unauthorised access that occurs despite these measures.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, or a copy in a portable format, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Most account and billing details can be corrected directly from your customer panel. For anything else, contact support@licensebox.net. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
